Post to much heat

Hi All,

I am getting to much heat from my car.
When the automatic control is set just barely off
of 0 it gets incredibly hot.
I temper it by opening up the fresh air and dumping it by my feet.

I just recently learned that the strange thing
dangling by my rerview mirror is the sensor.
Is there some sort of way to calibrate it?

Thank you in advance.

Rich,
I've had two separate cases on my 91 C4, about 8 months apart. I'm not sure about the earlier cars, but Porsche seemed to keep some of these systems in production for years: there are a couple of motors in the dash that control mix flaps in the air distribution system. By design, they fail in the full hot position (so you have defrost for cold weather safety). Safe, but hot as hell in a 911. The motors are about $100 each, and your tech will want about 3 hours. He can tell pretty quickly if one died.

MJ964, Rich has a completely different system than that of a 964, completely different in every way.

BTW, I just diagnosed one of my servo motors as being bad, the passenger side "mixer chamber" valve...so my girlfriend is happy that there's always heat over there and I'm frustrated because I get hot easily. <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

Rich, I don't know too much about the automatic climate control in the S and SC, so maybe I'm wrong about the servo motors?? I did have an SC with the conventional system...are there still two levers mounted in between the two front seats in your car? If my memory serves me, the auto climate controlled cars didn't have these, but I may be mistaken.

Sidebar: Rich, is your car blue? Were you at Summit Point last November?? Just curious.

Anyway, sorry for that "ADD moment" just had a hunch that I know who you are!

I will look around for a car in the shop that has this setup and see what I come up with. -OR- maybe someone with knowledge of this setup will reply.

Hi Jeff,

No, not me.
I have only had my car since November,
or should I say the mechanic has had it
for 3 months and I have had it for 3 weeks.
(one word PPI!!)

My car is a bronze metalic, I dont know what
the official P car term is but it looks nicer
when its sunny out, it takes on a lighter look,
not like a 70's brown!

Regard,
Rich

Maybe something in those will help?
They're a good yarn anyhow.

Yeah Sean, I checked them.
I got a few laughs on the "who designed them"
post. Actualy after reading that post it became
amazing simple to me how to operate the dash levers, its almost simple brilliance in design!!

Today while sitting at a light I caught the sensor at an angle and it appeared a little dusty in there, so when I got to work I gave a little blow into the sensor, (no one saw) and it seems to be letting the temperature throttle back a little. I am going to get some of that "air" in a can like you use for keyboards and try that.
I will post the results.

Of course you realize this is all for naught as it got into the 60's here in Jerzey today and I had the sunroof & windows open!
