202K mile 84 Carrera inspection time (Joy!)
Had to share this:
Just had my car's annual New York State inspection. Talk about fear-factor, I bought it back in April with ~200,000 miles, first time a "real" shop was looking at it (a friend PPI'd it). I asked for a NYS inspection and to tell me what else may be self destructive or dangerous. Reports all came out 100%, factory spec all around. Nothing? I asked - needs NOTHING, this from a dealer-trained 20 year P-shop veteran who can find faults on a new one. (Jay's in Massapequa Long Island)
The car was maintained as-new, everything to be done was done right and with factory parts by a pro, without regard to cost. Result: a 17 year old car with 202,000 miles that performs as-new.
Lesson here: keep it up, do it the right way and these babys will last forever. Do not be afraid of the high-mile cars "if" you find the right one. Have a lower mileage one? drive on!
Lets hope my "dues" are only $88 next year...
