A friend was determined to install a pop off valve in a '74 Carrera he is baby sitting for a mutual pal: I should have accompanied the 2" hole saw he borrowed to do the deed - for he drilled a little more than the CIS airbox plastic
There is now a new, clean 3/16 pilot hole through the metal plate directly below the floor of the air box: doing my homework in the archives, the phillips head screws securing the box halves indicate an 'upgraded' replacement airbox .... and the metal plate below is part of a manifold directing 6 tubes, one per intake runner, from the 7th( cold start) injector - again, an upgrade from the original approach where the cold start valve squirted over everything in sight.
Having painted the picture, are the 6 tubes internally connected under this plate?? - and this plate only serves to contain them? If so, we'll laugh the hole off and move on ...
Hovever, if this is a sealed manifold - then I'll advise him to reseal before epoxy cementing the pop off in place.
Advice appreciated ....
