Post will these heat exchangers fit my car?

Hello,I have a friend that is selling the stock heat exchangers off his 1974 911 with 2.7L motor,will those fit on my 1983 911SC?I want to put that style exhaust on my car because I hear they give a performance boost and let the engine run a little cooler,any comments on this?Any yes my car has the 3.0L engine.Thanks

Hi:

Those heat exchangers will indeed fit your car, however I would be very careful about fitting those to your SC. Unless they are in perfect condition (both inside and out), you may be introducing CO into the passenger compartment.

Regardless, either the OEM or SSI heat exchangers of that vintage are a worthwhile performance boost to any SC.

What Steve said. I did the same thing and it was one of the best bang for the buck mods I have made. The alternative is the $800 + SSIs. You will also need the 2 backdated oil lines from the 74, and if I remember correctly the flanges are thinner on the 74 so you will need small spacers on the exhaust studs to bolt them up.
