Post Stock heat exchanger removal

I have a 1973 911t 2.4L, MFI motor. I have developed an exhaust leak coming from the passenger side. I have pretty much isolated it to the heat exchanger to head gasket. This motor was rebuilt last year and has had alittle over 1000 miles since then. Valves have been adjusted once since the rebuils. How difficult is the removal of a heat exchanger? Do I really need some special tool?
Thanks,
Scott Harris

You'll need a 6" long (approx) 8 mm allen socket as the only special tool. With only 100 miles since rebuild, backing out the studs shouldn't be too hard, but take your time! Breaking one is a real drag.

Thanks for the info. At first I thiught I had broken a rocker arm or something, but the engine idles smooth, accelerates like always, and runs great. Well, except for the blasted exhaust leak. And it is very loud at idle.
