Default question on Central Pneumatic air compressor from Habor Freight.

Can someone give me feedback and suggestion on this brand (Central Pneumatic)?
I asked question on air compressor in the past and summarize my choice to veritcle cylinder, oil, and belt driven. For these, it cost a little high if I go to Sears or Lowes.
Harbor Freight is having a 2HP, 110v, 60hz, 115 PSI, 8 gallon for $100 and a 21 gallon for $150. I am leaning to the 8 gallon since being compact is what I am looking for. Anyone have any comment?
Thanks.

What is your purpose for this compressor ? painting? tools? blowing up tires ?

What you need is adequate CFM. ( how much air in generates in cubic feet per minute ) . Tools will have a desired CFM, just make sure your compresor produces enough CFM to drive it.

Mine I think is about 8.0CFM and can pretty well drive everything i need. I think Die cut off tools and air hammers are high demand tools. maybe even an air drill.

Talk to the people in the stores, they will tell you what you need to know.

You get what you pay for at Harbor Freight, jack stands and hammers are pretty easy to get right, Air Compressor? Go to sears and get a craftsman

I agreed with last post. Harbor Freight tools are usually good for one use. If you are going to use the compressor for anything but filling tires, I would go for better quality. Also from experience I would buy the compressor with the highest capacity/flow that you can afford.

I think I'm going to go with a cheap Harbor Freight compressor. For my garage it'll see sporadic use, not heavy duty. If I expected to use it constantly, I would go with a better name brand. I'm willing to experiment with the cheap one first and see how it goes. If it craps out in one year, then I learned my lesson, and I'll buy a Craftsman (or I'll look for a better quality pump and hook it up to the old tank since the tank should be perfectly good).
