Default Wind Damage

Car was in a carport........I was out of town for the weekend.......55 mph winds and this is what I came home to. Rear window gone, a couple tears in my Rear deck panel and several paint chips / scratches. Car is in the shop right now getting painted and a new rear window installed. My problem is the rear deck panel. Blue has been a difficult color to find. Does anyone know where I can find a blue rear deck panel for replacement? Several months ago I saw a post somewhere on rennlist either in the forums or the classifieds of someone parting out a carrera with a blue interior. I can't seem to find that post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Ouch !
Can you find a lighter cover and have it dyed?

www.dcautomotive.com might have it.

Good luck

You also might want to call Autos International in SoCal - they advertise in PCA and a number of other Porsche-related venues..

I tried DC Auto, partsheaven, and Oklahoma Foreign. Everyone was helpful except Oklahoma Foreign, the guy didn't want to give me the time of day. I'll try Autos International. Thank you gentlemen!

I'm with you Rob. Seems like every time I call I get an attitude. Definitely not an enthusiast owned / operated company. I wonder how differently I would be treated if every time I called I were looking for an engine or a tranny instead of the little $200-$500 parts.

PartsHeaven pulled a lousy $10 part off a car for me, and were happy to do it. I was thrilled with their customer service. Dunno what they have for interior parts though.

Sorry to see the devastation, hope everything works out!

Lee,

A good Automotive Interior Repair Tech could repair those tears and recolor the deck. Where are you located. Perhaps I can recomend someone. (I am in that business)

I have actually seen that done and it is absolutely amazing what these guys can do. This was 20 years ago. I had a cifarette burn in a car I wanted to buy and the guy they brought in melted some stuf into it, had die patern the same as the dash and I swear I could not tell where the damage was ..and I new it was damaged .. truely amazing and that was 20 years ago...

Let me add to the chorus of those suggesting a repair to the rear deck. The PO of my car installed an alarm keypad in the dash near the ignition key. I had the alarm and keypad removed and an interior guy came in and filled the holes, re-textured the dash, and then matched the color perfectly. I couldn't be happier.

Also, I know of someone who caught her heel in the side of a leather seat in an Acura, and tore it. Rather than have the seat recovered, a guy came in and repaired the hole for about $65. It looks as good as new.

I'd strongly urge you to try having the deck repaired rather than replace it. At worst, if you don't like the repair you'll be out less than $100. At best you'll have a great repair and won't have to hassle with (or pay for) either getting a new deck or having yours reupholstered.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys. If I can find someone local with the ability to repair the upholstry, I will try that route first.

Brian,
Can you recommend anyone up here in Maine? Perhaps even Southern New Hampshire or North Eastern MA would be worth the drive.

Thanks again guys.
