Tail light unit - How are the wires connected?
Hi,
I trying to take out my tail light unit on my 911S from 73. But the wires are all black covered with a thick layer of Dinitrol.
How/ where are the wires connected ? and how and where do I unplug the wires ??
Any help much appreciated - especially pictures showing what I should expect under the Dinitrol. Thanks.
Best regards
Peter, Copenhagen

Peter: I don't know what Dinitrol is, but to remove the lamp housing you:
1. Remove the lens
2. Remove the brake/taillight bulb
3. Remove the Phillips head inboard and outboard screws
4. Pull the housing out of the quarter panel (depending on underbody debris buildup you will find it helpful to scrape away the dirt that you can see from under the car)
5. You will see that your wire loom leads inboard to a body panel
6. Open the engine lid and look into the extreme outboard rear corner of the compartment and locate a black wire plug that's about an inch in diameter
7. Pull that plug loose and then push the taillight housing wire loom through the body panel
8. Locate the light housing ground wire, remove the bumper bracket allen-head bolt that holds the wire and remove the housing.

Pete -thanks a lot.
My doubt was if I was to push the taillight housing wire loom through the body panel - or if the wire were connected from outside same way as from inside.
Dinitrol is thick rust protection we use a lot overhere.
