Okay, first off can you please add your location to your profile? Then let us know how far you're willing to travel, and how much you want to spend. I take it you've scanned your local Craigslist, & checked Cars.com and autotrader?

Good luck,

Paul.

You can often find cars on the PCA regional web sites. For example, the following car was advertized on the GGR web site.

http://www.martin-clan.org/porsche/

Good luck with your search. Take your time and the right car will show up.

Lots of cars in california. And I wouldn't rule out a 100K + car with records and an **** owner (like 80% of porsche owners are ****)

I have seen and driven the car in this ad. It belongs to a software guy who lives in Auburn, CA and works in Folsom, CA. It has a lot of miles on it. 190K when I looked last month. I was a heartbeat away from buying it when I found the one I did buy. It is black with a beautiful sport seat interior. If I had not told you the mileage, you would have looked at the exterior, gotten in and looked at the interior, then did an OMG double take when you look at the ODO. The car is meticulously maintained and has records going back to '84. I think he would take 17K or less. Maybe not. I did not make an offer. Top end rebuild less than 10K miles ago.

Join PCA as a "Quest" member and check out the Mart on the website. That's how I found mine.

I gotta agree. If your not in PCA then join and look there. You'll just have to borrow someone's car #.

Not true, Jay - a "Quest" member does not need to own a Porsche - they give you the non-owner membership one-time only for six months only. When you buy a car you send them the VIN and become a full member. In the meantime you have Mart and Tech Q &A privileges on the website.

I am looking at putting my car on the market after the 1st of the year but, willing to sell it sooner it is an 83' cab with 83k 3.6 swap, SSI's, big brakes, turbo tie-rods, H4's, short shifter, Fikse FM10 wheels (7's & 9's). Located in Denver

Polarbear... I am also in the market in California, for an 87-89
3.2/ G-50 in the 15-20k range. I'm in the Bay Area. I know 2
cars for sure in LA that look pretty darn clean with around
70-80k and I have pics from the owners.. but they want 20-25k.
I will PM you to get your email and then we can help each other
out - I was hoping to find someone in LA to possibly go see them,
and I can look at cars you see listed here in the Bay Area.

I know of many cars with mileage in the low 100's (eg 108k)
where the owners want around 18k. To get solidly in the < 100k
range (say 75-80k) the going rate is between 20-25k, that is why
you are having issues. However now is a good time to be on the
market because people are trying to sell things before the rainy
season starts for real, so deals my be had. I saw a pretty pristine
car the other day with 83k and its an 89 but the guy wants 25k
firm.

Also keep in mind that low mileage in these cars is not always a
good thing, due to the valve guide wear issue that can happen
anywhere between 30k-200k but typically 120k-150k -you may
need a top-end rebuild for 8k. This is why I am now leaning
toward trying to find a higher-miles car that was maintained
well, but has had a top-end rebuild, rather than a car with say
80-120k but no engine work done as of yet. See this thread
on Pelican:
