Parking doesnt' bother me so much but sometimes the steering feedback in my 84 (with a Momo 350MM) kind of beats me up on a rough stretch of highway.
The steering is lighter in the earlier cars because the cars weigh less and have narrower tires...

On "pleasure drives," you can choose either, with the more raw, "visceral" experience going to the earlier car. A 993 is so smooth (some would say "insulated") compared to their earlier brethren that speed comes very effortlessly (this takes nothing away from the earlier cars, mind you). The sensation of speed is more prevalent in pre-964 models, IMHO.

If a/c is a significant concern, forget about the earlier car. The HVAC on the 993 (and 964) are simply superior ...that is, they actually work, and they keep working. There are a/c upgrades to the earlier cars that are very costly. I have not met anyone who have done them (most abandon the idea of real a/c blowing ) so I cannot comment on their efficacy.

The "best car" should be determined by its records, PPI, and your judgment of the owner. There are many tasteful mods/upgrades that can be done that some would perceive as diminishing the "originality" of the cars, but in reality could offer improvements to the cars. Best of luck to you deciding between two fine examples of 911.
