Post replace permatune box?

I recently lost all spark on my '77 911s 2.7. [none to plugs, none to distributer from coil] I thought I'd replace the permatune box and coil but the price is stiff. Anyone have suggestions to either confirm that the box is bad or other ideas before I give automotion my credit card #?

Automotion was bought out (merged) with Performance Products. I believe they offer a 15% discount to PCA members, although they have 20% off sales several times a year.

I had my permatune go out on me. Fortunatly the PO gave me the old Bosch unit with the sale and it was fine.
It is expensive. A nice option would be to swap units with someone the verify. But I know thats not always possible. If you do a thread search on Permatune here or on the Pelican Parts board you'll see lots of negative feedback on Permatune units. They seem to be a fraction of the cost, but a fraction of the life span of the OEM stuff.
