Is Bruce Anderson on crack?

Here's what some of the folks on the Pelican Parts Board thought about these cars.
With respect to the 73S: "Needs paint, because color doesn't appear to be a Porsche stock color. The door panels are from a "post 73" era, and that's why the left side door pull. The seats are sport seats, but they were apolstered backward.(basketweave on the bolsters, and smoothe leatherette on the inside)."
That's from a guy who saw the car 3 weeks ago. Based on his assessment, it might be a "good" quality car, but the current bid is at Mr. Anderson's "excellent" level price.
Two posters had thoughts with respect to the alleged 67S. First, "Car is very likely not an S. All 1967 S chassis numbers ended in S, the engine does not have the correct red shrouding..
I doubt it's really an S."
Second, "I really love Ebay sometimes. 2 statements in the ad caught my eye: 'The car has had replacement floor pans and is quite soild.' 'The car has been garaged and kept out of the elements.' Now was it kept out of the elements before or after the floor pans rusted bad enough to be replaced?"
Based on these guys' observations, the bids for the alleged 67S are probably no indicator of early S prices at all.
So we need to keep trying. I hope that Mr. Anderson's apologists are correct. I'm quite serious about buying a good driver for the price he lists for a "good" condition car.

This is fun...check page 89 of the March '02 issue of PCA's Panorama...'70 911S "95% original, 60k miles, interior is in 95% condition...asking $10,500." If cosmetics aren't your priority, and price is, this may be your ticket! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

puzurinshushinak,
I'd suggest dropping the "crack" references when posting on rennlist, since that kind of nonsense is more typical on the bimmer/roadfly boards. (yeah, I recognize 'ya)
I have been reading Bruce Anderson's Porsche market analyses for years and have even exchanged email with him during a search for a 88-89 Porsche 944 Turbo. Every so often Bruce will get a nasty letter from an angry 964 or 944 owner about the perceived injustice of his price analysis. In one issue of Excellence, he even implied that he received a death threat from one such seller.
As for your disbelief about 2.4S prices, why not buy one at your perceived market value and set the record straight for the "crackhead?"

Dean, that's precisely what I'm trying to do.
Oooh, Ray, would you email me the seller's contact information from that Panorama ad? puzurinshushinak@netscape.net

I know, I know..... I just perpetuated this post by replying to it, but I'm with Dean on this.
The sooner this post - with its offensive "crack" reference drops off as litter, the better!
