Post Gas / Oil for 1984 Coupe (Euro Spec) ?

Very close on purchase of 1984 911 (euro spec). Car has never run on synthetic oil for all it's 130,000 miles, will a change to Moble 1 be a safe move? Secondly which fuel should I use at the pumps ? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Switching to synth oil can't HURT the engine, but (some say) it might become more prone to seepage past gaskets & seals. So, if it where me, I would determine the condition of the engine (inc. rebuild history) in advance of making a decision. a) oil leakage now? how much? from where?, b) oil consumption now? how much? under what driving conditions?, c) what brand & weight oil has been used in the engine?, d) how frequently has it been changed?

Again, if it where me, I'd change oil upon getting the car (in fact, ALL fluids if there are no records) & carefully evaluating the engine condition (comp., leak down, oil consumption). If you go to synth right away, I suspect you will want to start w/ 15-50, but that should be decided in terms of operating conditions, ambient temp. etc. (as described in the manual).

Start w/ 92 or 93 octane.

Happy New Year, good luck closing the deal (get an independent ppi)!

84 Euro engine requires 98 RON fuel, which is high test premium here, like 92-93 R+M/2 octane, as Kevin said. Synthetic oil changes and leaks relates primarily to pre-1978 models. You should be fine if you want to switch to a synthetic oil.

I always use 93 octane but that's just me. A slightly lower octance (maybe even 91) should be OK as well so long as you aren't getting any knocking.
As far as the oil is concerned, there are a lot of different opinions I am sure. However, I tend to agree with Kevin. Synthetic has a way of finding its way through places. So, it's possible that new leaks could be created as a result (and I do agree this is even more likely with earlier 911's although keep in mind this car is almost 20 years old). Moreso, however, I don't see any reason to spend the extra money on synthetic so long as you change your oil regularly. At 130,000 miles, you're not exactly doing a lot to save on wear by switching to synthetic now. Bottom line: switching to synthetic won't really hurt anything per se but it probably won't gain you anything either (aside from a slightly higher bill with each oil change).
I would use Swepco in the transmission, however, this is synthetic.
