Those additional hoses on the upper side left of the engine are there to push more air through the heat exchangers. Some time back Porsche realized that there was enough air movement from just the central fan so they threw in that squirrel cage and used it to push more through. As best it is a compromise. It is a special diameter,--and a unique part number. It is quite lightweight,--and simply for moving cool air to where it can hit the heat exchangers.

Hi Jeremy, if you had only been able to make it Saturday we could have covered all this. Just kidding. We missed ya though.
I've seen these hoses on ebay too.

I think I'd ask to see the old parts. I know it's probably been long enough that they'll tell you they threw them away but.....

Let me know if I can help,
Doug

Pelican Parts says they have the non-AC hose. It's 6 cm vs. the with-AC hose, which is 5 cm.

Or you could simply buy 2 reducers separately and run the 5 cm hose. Don't know where to find the reducers though. Stealership?

So I guess I need two of these? Where I had circled two hoses were connected, now there are none :-) I found these here...what do you guys think? Will this do the trick? Anyone have any experience with this site?

jeremy I think those are the ones that go underneath the car from the heat exchanger to the control box. Sometimes called the flapper box. To be honest I am not even sure if you have heat exchangers or reactors.
You need the ones on TOP of the engine from the left and right pasthru to the blower assembly. You also have AC so I think yours are a little different anyway. Try Autohausaz.com

nope.. you need one of the ones that i stated before and you need a shorter one thats 6cm diameter for the left hand side.
trust me and just go to the dealership spare parts. cheaper and you will end up with the right part. i changed mine about 3 weeks ago when i broke one changing the alternator

Or you could backdate the heater system.
Creates a bit more room in the engine compartment.

It was 31 degrees this morning and I was plenty warm with just the p/s heat on.

I have SSI's and one of my cables is not working at the moment but I was fine with a light jacket.
