I am putting new seats in my 1987 Carrera. I use it for the dstreet and DE events. I cannot make up my mind. What is your opinion? Thanks

Sit in one. Once you do that, if becomes a bit clearer. Also, many regions (and I imagine NNJR is one of them) will require the use of proper seats if you are using Harnesess. This means you will want at least a sub strap hole. Others will argue that if you are already using harnesses, you may as well get a (stronger) fixed back seat and may as well throw in a seat brace. So. How will you be using your seat? Do you need to share with a shorter or taller driver (ie is adjustability important). How about headroom (with helmet)... do you need more room than the stock seat height?
So, in my opinion, once you can clearly decide its use then the key is to gget your **** into some examples.
I find all 3 brands highly regarded. I've sat in all 3 brands. All 3 offer some size variability (for small to large "*****") etc. If I recall, the Kirkeys require custom mounts, the other two have their own mounts/sliders in lieu of the factory mounts.

i have the recaro speed seats in my car and i love them, combined with 5 point harneses they provide plently of support for DE's and are very comfortable on the street with the stock belts.

If this is also a street car, be sure that the thigh bolsters aren't too high, otherwise you'll be "climbing" in and out of the seat every time. A snug yet comfortable fit is the most important thing ; you also don't want to be loose or it defeats part of the benefit of a track seat at tracktime. If you choose to run 6-pt belts, I understand tht Kirky is better for that. And correct me but aren't Kirks all aluminum? Seems to me like this is a fundamental difference in build philosophy. That is, FG vs Carbon vs Metal. I don't know which is better, but just thought I'd raise the issue. FWIW, I own a Sparco and love it (98% track car). The FIA sticker gives me a little peace of mind, and it fits me like a glove so I feel confident.

The advantage of recaros is that they bolt right on to most 911s. No need for adapters, you can reused the sliders from your stock seat ! That's a lot simpler..
I have sparcos right now, and due to the adapters, sliders etc, I feel like I am driving a delivery truck (too high)... I'm going to look into having my seat rails cut off and rewelded further down!

I took everyone's advice and sat in the seats. The Sabelts fit me a little better than the Recaros and were almost $300 cheaper. The Sabelts are FIA approved. So I bought the Sabelts. Thanks for all of your help.
