Be ready to work on your 911 a bunch. Not to discourage you, but it is a commitment.

Your 944 was designed by Porsche for Audi but Audi backed out last minute and Porsche said **** it, so they dropped a Porsche Engine into it. I say that Audi would have not done what Porsche did with it. And big Deal, its not like people know what they're saying while holding on to the keys of a car with an aluminum bolt on wing.

Well to be accurate you are talking about the 924.. evan by the second year ( the 924S ) the Audi engine was gone replaced by a Porsche powerplant. By the time the 944 iteration came aong it was pretty well a Porsche ... i think some were built in Finland actually. Allt he same the 944 was a nice package, and by the time it bacame the 944turbo S, it had become quite the complete package..

Bretech, what did you get for 4k? The 911 in your avatar? Do tell!

yes I got it for 4k even. It's a 1974 911S with SC Flares. It had a 3.0 in it but my friend took the motor out for his track car, and we slapped in an old 901 tranny w/ 2.2 that had been sitting for 5 years. The tranny got stuck in gear and wouldn't shift properly on the 1st day i got it, so I pulled the motor out w/ tranny so that I can have a rebuild guy take a good look at the internals. But I'm actually on my way to pomona right now to see if I can find a deal on a 901 tranny, just in case. So I got it cheap, since it was practically sitting in my friends property, doing nothing. I like to think that somehow I got a great deal. HA!
