Hey guys I just acquired a 1974 Porsche 911S with a long story. To make the story short, I took the car as payment for an old debt, and that's how I'm now the owner of a 911. I've had 944s but never a 911. It used to have the 2.7L but my friend is using the tranny and motor in his track car. His mechanic installed a spare 2.2L with the 901 and tranny. Now my issue is the fact that the shifter is so damn sloppy that I cant get 4 and 5th to go in and I have such a hard time always trying to dig for 1st gear, I want to know where could I start in order to tighten things up a bit. This shifter is so sloppy it feels as if I'm stirring soup in a pot. HELP.
bushings did the trick for me, cheap easy and fast, went from all slop to tight in an afternoon.
i got mine from pelicanparts, and they were great, highly reccommended, good price

yeah, bushings all the way!!! replace the cup @ the bottom of the shifter/ the 'O' ring and the 2 in he couple. I couldn't find any gears and the rod was slapping around in the tunnel new bushings made it feel like new. Mega transformation.

thanks for the response. Well I removed the tranny and motor, and I'm gonna have the tranny checked out. The car got stuck in gear, and would not go to neutral. I think its something in the tranny. Thanks I'll keep u posted.
