Default Idle issue

Ok 81 SC with no issues at all. Car ran great all summer and now that it's getting a little colder I normally am at 900 RPM but now after warm she is close to 1500. I really don't want to adjust until I find the cause.

Thanks in advance

Mine is the same as the weather is cooling , I normal idle at 1050 and no an idling at 1300. I didn't really consider it a big deal , sometimes it comes down ...

I have a 1985, there is a idle regulator (I'm not sure of Porsche name, also called AIC in GM land, air idle control). It bypasses throttle plate on my vehicles.

On my '85 idle was too low when cold so it wasn't opening per DME instructions. Maybe yours is sticking open. It was replaced by mechanic but on most vehilces I clean it with carb cleaner first.

Also known as the ICV ( idle control valve ) same principle. Emac and my car have no such thing. A litle older technology , but I don't sweat it.

emac: Do you have cruise control? I chased a fast idle problem with my 78 SC for months before I found (actually my father-in-law found) that it was the cruise control cable. It was adjusted just a bit too snug so that it was holding the throttle open a bit. Just a couple of turns on the cable adjustment, and the idle was back to normal. If you have cruise control wiggle the cable and see if the idle goes down when it is stuck high.

Brett
Had it but it's not connected. This happens every fall, I usually turn it down but I figured I would just live with it this year.
