Default Replacing Drive Shafts

I am thinking about replacing the drive shafts on my 74 911s. Can anyone give me some insight? Is this a large job, small job....

Kevin:

Its pretty easy as long as you have the right tools and a dash of patience.

You'll need:

1) A pair of new driveshafts

2) Extra grease (I like Swepco # 101)

2) A good torque wrench

3) New CV bolts and Schnorr washers

4) 4 gaskets

5) Lots of clean rags

don't forget some clothes you can throw away and some thin latex or plastic gloves...makes it a much nicer job. that CV grease is messy but I quite enjoyed the job.

Since you have it all apart, are your rear bearing OK, check for noise of shaft play. Great time to replace the bearings

Why are you changing them?
Worn splines?
Or, are you referring to the CV's?

Boots and CV's need to be replaced. Figured it was just as easy to buy the completed drive shaft (everything already together and ready for install) than to try and replace the boot and CV.

What do you need for a procedure ? unbolt the old ones, put in the new ones. Pelican may have something but it is VERY straight forwad

There is a very extensive description of everything involved if you do a seach on Pelican - be sure to put CV in the search too.

There are several things that are absolutely critical to do - just bolting them in is not enough unless you do it right.
