Default Toyo Tires

I just put on a set of Toyo T1-R's and I must say they are unbeleivable. These tires are just amazing. They stick stick stick! If anyone is looking for new tires definately look into the T1-R's

I agree. I love mine too. Many guys ignor them because Tire Rack doesn't sell them & so they don't pop up in their tire ratings . . .

Great to know, thanks for the feedback.

I had a set of Toyo T1-S on a previous car & loved them. Wasn't sure how the T1-R's would be, given the extra rain channel - I was wondering if they'd give something up on dry streets. I used the S's for daily street & for rains at Road Atlanta, grippy but gave great feedback close to the edge. Treadwear wasn't bad either, given the use they got from me.

Problem is, Toyo used to be a bargain brand & their pricing has gone up noticeably now that they're more known. I chose the Kumho MX last time as they were cheaper (recently sold with the 17" Cups), and I might go with the Hankook Ventus R-S2 for the 911 next.

Where did you purchase your Toyo T1-Rs and what sizes are you running?

I run Toyo T1-R's on my M5. I bought a new set after the old T1-S's that came on the car wore out. I must admit if they had not come on the car I would have never tried Toyo's. But as you said they stick great. In the rain, there is no hydroplaning.

When the S02a's on my Porsche wear out, I will price Toyo's against Bridgestone. Given their support of various races, I should have known they might make good tires. I think Tirerack not selling them had a lot to do with me not trying them as well. I adtually found a great deal on the tires in Canada.

Glad to hear this! Just had 4 put on my 88 Carrera, and hoping to test them with one more DE this season. Was really looking at the Toyo RA-1's, but concluded that 1. since I don't have rims for track tires (yet) 2. the price point difference between the RA's & The T 1's (a bit strapped because of required retrofitting to the Carrera) 3. the overall versatility of the T 1's, they seemed like a good choice. Great feedback guys - thanks!
