Post Protecting headlights on the track

Hi everyone:
I had heard people mention a clear, stick on film that they use to protect their headlights from getting chipped or cracked.

If someone could tell me what it is called and where to get it, I will appreciate it. Just bought new lenses for my H4s after both got nice holes punched in them last year by gravel that had made its way onto the track during a club race.

Thanks,

Mark,

Pelican Parts sells the clear vinyl film that covers H-4's. Good stuff...been using it for 3 years on my '84 Carrera (w/ H-1's) and no broken lens.

The best thing for lens protection on the track is Racers Tape.It is like duct tape so it is thicker than the 3M clear vinyl sheet, and it comes in really cool colors !

The clear vinyl film that I am referring to is much thicker than racers tape...it's about 3 or 4 mm thick.

I agree, racers tape is another alternative for track use only. I use the clear vinyl lens covers on the highway also.

An alternative is clear Lexan that's shaped like an H4 lens. It's lighter than glass, and involves no added prep time at the track.
