Default Identifying Early 911 brake calipers?

Hi there,

I have a 71 911E and I need to rebuild the calipers. On inspection they look like they're made of alloy, as they are a light alloy colour as opposed to the darker steel colour that regular calipers look. My calipers are stamped ATE and when I look for service kits it refers to the alloy calipers as "genuine Porsche" and the steel calipers as ATE, which makes me think mine may not be alloy. Can anyone tell me a sure fire way to find out?

Thanks in advance

Adam

There were 2 different ATE calipers that came on the front of a '71 911

alloy S, w/ 3.5" mounts or Iron M w/ 3" mounts., If the front caliper looks like a rear caliper it is an M, (magent works too.

These are an alloy S, the finish can be anything form raw al. to a bronzish tint.
