Hey Ice,
Yes it's the horn button. I bought a Porsche one from ebay.
Much nicer I think.

Default Mines a 79SC

I had the exact same issue. No thread at all in the leather and a gap that I tried several times to glue back down. I bought the new leather kit and re-sewed my own. I sprayed a little interior adhesive on the leather to help hold it tight. It's not professional but my time is cheaper than what they wanted to charge me. It has a much softer feel although I thought nothing was wrong with the original leather.

Then I added a Porsche crest as a final touch. About $100 for the whole revamp.

It doesn't show in the photo, but following this I added sports seats and redyed the carpet as well. Looks new inside now.

Autobanrun is this the leather kit you are talking about? http://www.performanceproducts.com/p...l+Re-Cover+Kit
Your wheel looks very nice...does the kit come with good instructions because I am useless without them.

You should be able to get that wheel restitched for significantly less than the number you cited. Look for an Oriental seamstress. They will do it for a less and the quality will be first rate. (That's what I did with mine years ago and it was something like $35).

I bought my kit from Pelican Parts. The Performance Products kit looks identical. The crest is sold separtely for around $50 as well. It does come with instructions. It's fairly simple, but time consuming and is hard on the fingers unless you use a thimble to push the needle through the approximately 200 holes. I did mine in sections so it would not be so hard on my hands. The secret is to have it lined up correctly and to get the sections as close together as possible before pulling the thread tight. Otherwise, if you pull too hard, the thread will tear through the leather. All in all a very doable DIY project.

In the instructions was an address to send the wheel and to. It's been awhile but I think they wanted around $160 to sew it for you. But if you can find someone like Edgy01 suggests to do it for you, that's an option as well.

Funny as hell. You definitely win for being the cheapest.

Default Do it

Do it, it's worth every penny if you love your car, love driving it, and want to keep OEM parts in it. I have an SC, my wheel cover was doing exactly the same, threads coming apart, the leather could use a good dye job. I plan to have it redone and then sell it.

Buy the wheel, I bought the exact same one from the same source, never regretted it for one second. It's not just the look, it's fat and offers much better grip.

I bought my 930S several years ago from Pelican (when they came with the crest already installed) - between that and having the seats recovered, best interior mods I ever did.
Love the 930S wheel -- feels great.
