Post 86 911 steering noise (low speeds only)

Hi - my 86 911 with 70k miles just started making a scratching noise when I turn the steering wheel. It only happens at very low speeds, and I had the steering bearing replaced a year ago and was wondering if this was possibly a component of that repair.

I'm curious why it only happens at low speeds and whether it is unsafe to drive or merely an annoyance I can take care of when I need a few more "projects" for my P-man. Thanks for your input - this board is truly amazing.

In cold weather only?

I think there is some sort of nylon gasket that will do this - it has happened to me & my wrench said 'no problem' - however, others here will surely know more...

Thx for your input - only drove in cold weather once (two days ago) and that's when I heard it - guess cold weather maybe a factor.
