Default 80 SC: My car runs great but dropping to second is hard sometimes

80 SC Targa: I'm happy with my garage queen, the little I drive her.
I can shift all gears, no grinds, but I'd say after a good warm up it is hard dropping into second, no grinds just need to pull it in hard.

I'll play dumb here any ideas (yes I use Swepco 201 blue).
Thanks

Are all your bushings new or in good shape? Is the adjustment correct? How many miles on current build?

When I had my SC (915) the second gear was hardest to get into. I learned how to "blip" (match the rpms with a little tap on the accelerator pedal in between down shift) it in when want ed.

Attention to small things first (as mentioned above), as move up into the tranny lastly.

Regards,

1- car has 65K on it, and it shifts fine (really well). I put in a Porsche SS and new bushings. Now as I said it shifts really nice until I get it hot and then it even may shift fine.

2- So to repeat shifts fine cold, but sometimes hard to drop into second from 4th at times when hot.

I'm not hearing comments like transmission internals like: second syncro, or hub or dog teeth, so I'm happy. I was going to drop engine to fix some oil leaks so I won't touch the tranny.

Now I drove it in today to work, 33 miles and it shifted fine, but it was about 68 degrees (NJ), so I'll see tonight when it warms up a bit.

Thanks

One of the most common gear changes is 1st to 2nd. Check the synchros. I think you'll find that to be the problem.
