Is there any way to tell if my car has the updated alternator/regulator? I only have records going back a few years...

If you mean internal or external regulator look behind the plastic cover at the left of the engine bay. If it has an external reulator it would be there (rectangular cube ) if not it has been updated .. sorry I don't have a pic handy. But the Bently shows it ..
