Default 78 SC mirror switch connections

I am in the middle of changing the window felts and seals on my 78 SC coupe. Things are going reasonably smoothly for a 28 year-old car, but some of the wires came unplugged from my mirror control switch in the driver door before I had a chance to document them. The wire colors in the Bentley manual don't match mine, and Bentley doesn't show the physical layout of the switch connections, only the functional circuit diagram. Here is what I have:

The switch has six pins, one on each end and 2 pairs in the middle. I'll attach a photo.

My wire colors are as follows:

1 connector with 1 green wire - connected to lower left middle pin
1 connector with 1 brown wire - connected to lower right middle pin
1 connector with 1 black/violet - connected to far right end pin
1 connector with 2 white wires - ?
1 connector with 1 blue wire and 1 black wire - ?
1 connector with 1 brown wire - ?

Anyone know how to connect these 3 wires?
Thanks!

Hi Phiba it is your lucky day , I replaced my switch about a year ag and have hd my piece of cardboards with the layout ever since lying in my tool kit. The hardest part is the description so here we go ...

The white wires g next to the violet, the blue/black go next tot he white , and the brown goes next to the blue black..

It should sort of look like this , although it may be upside down to you

Brown Greeen
violet Brown ( two outside verticle connectors )
White blue/blk

Hope this helps ( PS i have a 78sc also )

Iceman, somehow I knew the answer would come from you, knowing you seem to be online full time, and having a 78SC too. Thank you! This info will go directly into my service notebook, probably something like your cardboards, for future reference. I just ordered Vol. 3-6 factory manuals from Pelican, but am still looking for an affordable set of Vol. 1-2. I hope these will be more accurate than Bentley, although Bentley does have some helpful information. I don't get why, for example, on page 660-3, it has a table of Outside mirror drive motor wiring for 1984-1989, when the manual is supposed to be for 1978-1983!!

Phiba
I know what you mean , I was trying to adjust my windows on the targa and the bently is way off also. oh well , still one of the better manuals though ..After doing the job i usually check it to see if I did it right ..

PS be carfull screwing the switch back on , not too tight , that is how I broke mine , that collar can bust the switch pretty easy.

I am not on line ALL the time .. the rest of the time I am under the car ;-)

Yeah I have had a lot of emails regarding this . I guess the switches are breaking more now that my SC for example is 30 years old. Glad you posted it because I finally lost the piece of cardboard lying in my tool kit :-)

Iceman-Just came in from a morning drive and was pleasantly surprised to see your post. Thanks, I'll take it apart and see if I can fix the mirror

Update: mirror only moves down. No side to side or up. Didn't work in all four directions before so its probably the switch. Pretty sure I've got it wired like the diagram. Thanks for the help.
