I've got about 600 miles on my new to me 911, and I love it. The car runs perfectly. Anyway I've been trying to index as much as I can about the car, and I was under the impression that the steering wheel had been switched.
Here's a picture:

Anyway, according to this http://www.middleyear911.com/differences.html all the mid year 911s had the 3 spoke stock. Is this correct?

The wheel on your car is from an SC or Carrera (through 88 or so). The wheel on my 74 was not a 3 spoke, it was the 4 spoke type, similar to the 914 wheel. It was larger in diameter as well. I'll dig it out and take a pic for reference.

Porsche introduced what I thought was a fairly ugly st. wheel after they left the 1973 series of T, E, and S cars. It was sort of rectangular. That wheel started in 1974 and was carried through to the 1977 cars. By the time the 1978 911SC cars came out they went to what you have today.
