Sonic dB

>>>coupes typically can be gotten for cheaper than cabs<<<

Not in Southern California.

Coupes are far fewer in supply than either cabs and targas combined.

I wonder how many VCM buyers bother to look and see if the service records and stampped books they put in the cars are actually for that car? Since he buys stamped service books off of ebay under different names.

not flaming or defending anyone but do you know this for a fact this is happening ? I for example bought these off ebay also so I could have some matching memorabilia for my car as it had none. Then again I would never try to say these are the warrantly stamps for my car.. not that it would matter for me as my car is almost 30 years old ..

just didn't think it was a bad thing to do this .. and it doesn't neccesarily mean he is misrepresenting, and might be a little dangerous to claim on a public forum in writting he is, unless of course you have absolute proof he is misrepresenting himself.hmmmm .. guess I am sort of defending myself here I guess...

again I don't intend to start a great debate , I was just wondering if you got burned buy this ?

I have seen several posting where people claim to have sold him service records but I dont know. I guess its for a personal collection. I got burned so I am living proof of why you must get a PPI. If you want proof just look at the 100 or so 911's he has for sale. According to that, you can still buy my car (over 6 months ago) but call for prices- LOL. I'm more mad at myself for not educating myself than anything else.

Oh don't get me wrong Super Dave I hear you , I am the first to warn people. Do you mean he still has the car you own now listed ? .. now that is the CLASSIC bait and switch .....oh that one sold but can i interest you in this one ? Hey Dave as a joke you should call and ask if you can buy it as you have one exactly like it at home and want the matching one to complete the set !

Its simple.. he uses several names to buy cars on eBay and we know this becasue they end up on his website, sometimes he even uses the same photos from the eBay listing he bought the car from. I looked at the feed back on one of the cars he bought under a different name and I noticed the several of his previous buys on eBay were for stamped Porsche service books.

I dont have any issues with someone buying them for his own use but I dont get the feeling VCM isjust collecting the books for the heck of it.... also

I never said you should not buy a car from this guy.. if you do your homework you can buy from anywhere. I am saying go in with your eyes wide open and dont expect a deal from him.

He has cars listed on his site which he sold 6, 8, 10 months ago.

The M-491 white Targa which he out bid me for on Ebay about 10 months ago and sold soon after that is still there... and the Blue 1989 Speedster with the aftermarket wheels which someone either here or on PP inquired about almost a year ago is still there too. I am sure many used car sellers leave inventory on line but thats a long time? DO you thinkhe has 74 air cooled 911's in Stock?

That would be a VERY expensive inventory to cary, the interest on the money you would have to float to do that would be quite high , but you never know .. he maybe someone local could nip over and count .. :-) ... hey I wonder if Robert is moving amongst us .....

I guess the Florida market is different but Coupes by far command a premium over Cabs and Targas.

Bought a car from him (87 black coupe) about one year ago and the car was definitely listed there for at least 6 to 8 months after I had bought it.

Same story as Super Dave. Bought a car from him (87 black coupe) about one year ago and the car was definitely listed there for at least 6 to 8 months after I had bought it.
