What is "LWF"?

I changed to a Patrick Motor Sport flywheels (with trigger teeth) so that I could move the pickup for the Electromotive XDi to the flwheel if I ever go to a/c. Currently, I'm using a trigger pulley by Clewett as well as Clewetts single pulley kit.

BTW, with my 41mm chokes I made 295HP to the wheels (got mild cams installed). I'm now running 43mm chokes, and it's got even more top end power. While I've not dynoed it with the larger chokes, the difference has got to be at least another 15Hp+ at the wheels.

The car is definitely fast.

After doing the 3.6L, I wish I had never messed around with any of the 3.0L and 3.2L stuff...

LWF...sorry Lightweigh Flywheel

295 rwhp... awesome... probably on a 2,200-2,300 car... I am sure you have surprised a couple of Turbo owners out there...

The 915 is rebuilt and has the short R&P in it. So it's real quick. Also, I've got no LSD and thus far has not been a problem at all (only run on fast high speed track with this car... so it might be a problem on a tight track).

The car is pretty much a street toy. www.tonygarcia.org/911SC

I'm getting ready to do my next project... so this car will probably get sold (what's worse... is that I'll probably have to sell the car in pieces to get anthing close to my money back :-(

Looked at your project. Extremely nice BTW! ... "it's only money"

That's the thing Tony, you want an LSD on a tight track to keep from spinning a wheel on power coming out. I run 95% at Limerock, so there ya go.

I was sorta waiting to see if I was going to do the G50 or not... since I didn't want to do the LSD 2x (915, then G50), but thus far I have had no real reason. Plus, as I mentioned earlier, the car is probably going to get sold. The new owner can figure it out.

As a data point, my car has a 3.6 with a 1977 magnesium-case 915. I have the reinforced sideplate, custom gear sets for 2,4 and 5, the Wevo internal gateshift (as well as the Wevo shifter and coupler), an external cooler with an internal spraybar pointed at the hot spots, and a GT ZF-type 80% limited slip. I track the car at least two days a month, have run three week-long Open Track Challenges, two seasons of time trialing with NCRC and a rookie season of wheel-to-wheel with ARC.

I don't drag race, but I do occasionally leave dual black stripes on canyon runs.

The transmission has taken my abuse for six years now. I had one failure of a slider, once, but that was likely a defective part. Aside from that, I've only given it Swepco and, uh, torque.

To see a 915 behaving well under the hand of a ham-fisted operator, click on this lap of Thunderhill Raceway in northern California:

Now I have to ask myself.
Do I rebuild my 3.2 or replace it with a 3.6.
Like I didn't have enough question running around in my head.
Thanks

3.6

You should see if you can find anybody that has a 3.6L car that is local to you that you could drive. The answer will be crystal clear.

I sold my 3,2 and replaced that with a 3,6. It is not so expensive (well this is relative) if you do the conversion by yourself and if you do not purchase another exhaust or muffler and just use the original 3,6 cats and mufflers.
It is of course easier with a 3,6 from a 964.
This set up is extremely fast so this is up to you if you also upgrade the breaks.

Thanks guys, now I am relieved to hear your feedbacks about the 915s.

But if I sell my 3.2 while it's still running strong it will help with the costs.
Do the install myself over the winter. ?????
Brain is hurting. Maybe I should go back to work.

There is no comparison. Still a 3.6 is much more expensive.

Yes there are some people that have scored incredibly good motors for very little money.
But anyway you slice it you are talking about $10k just for the engine swap.

Then in theory you'd possibly need stiffer bars, bigger brakes etc.

There are tons of threads on pelican parts... I'd start from there

Well, I tried to make the conversion as cheap as possible. It took a long time to find all the parts needed from Ebay or used and not to buy all the parts from Patric's Motorsport or Timmins. I sold the 3,2 as soon as I had all the parts available and my 3,2 was not that strong any more and needed an new clutch anyway. Guess what, I made the conversion over the winter! and one more thing was that was fun for me to make the conversion and working on the car and see the result.
