Default Your Lift...How High?

Hi Brett,

Me likey that lift. But how high will it go? High enough to do an engine drop. And do you or anyone else know how many inches is needed to drop the engine?

Thanks,

James: I can offer that I've removed a number of engines using my lift (which is the same as Brett's) that I've had in my garage since '99. Of course, different engines (356s, 911s w/carbs, 911s w/CIS) require different clearance heights, in which case a second jack can be used to raise the car an inch or two to be able to pull the engine out from under if needed. The design of the lift does make some procedures more difficult than the typical garage hoist (replacing tie rods, early master cylinders, etc.), but for the most part it's a wonderful tool to have and I've never wanted to use jackstands instead!
