Default HelP with emissions?

I purcahsed my car last month and the previous owner had just run it through emissions with no problems. After a few weeks of ownership I checked a few parts and decided it was really in need of a tune. I changed the spark plugs, smog filter, air filter, accumulator, and cap and rotor. I then added some BG44k for a good cleaning of injectors.
the car started acting up at idle, so I looked for air/hose leaks to no avail. the car runs great other than idle.
I then researched Bently and increased the idle a bit and got a better sound.
Unfortunately, the car failed emissions now at idle. Should I attempt to adjust the mixture because the car has high HC readings because of unburned fuel or partially unburned fuel? Secondly, Should I leave this to a mechanic with the proper equipment or tinker with it and use the Bentley manual. I just don't understand why these readingsoccurred when all I did was change out parts.
Any Help would be appreciated
Oh yeah it's a 78 911sc

What spark plug did you use and what did you gap them to? The correct plug for the car is Bosch W8DC gapped to .028". Obviously there are other plugs that will also work well, but if you used Platinums take them back out and throw them away. Check to make sure that your plug connectors are installed properly also.

I don't know what that injector cleaner is that you used, but normally nothing other than good quality premium fuel (Chevron, etc.) is required, with maybe one dose of ProGard every 3K miles. Is this stuff out of the system, or still in the gas tank?

These are some starting points for you to check, but you still might need to talk with someone who has a CO% machine and 911 experience.

I used what pelicanparts gave me Bosch wr-8-DP. I then gapped hem to .22
Lastly, the BG44K is a fuel injector cleaner that everyone of my mechanics has used and recommended since my original Bmw in 1986 including my present m3 every 15,000 miles.

I tinkered with the air fuel mixture and the car acelerates quite a bit better out of first and does not stall at stop signs . I will probably take it back to emissions fort a free test and if it fails take it to the mechanic for a a fine tuning, but right now i am enjoing tinkering and going by the sound of the motor.
