Does anyone know where I can find out what is involved with a engine swap on a 1987 911? I had heard that a 1995 993 engine "fits" relatively easily. Does this mean it's bolt in? How about a 1997 or 1998 996 engine with varioram. Any experiences? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Do some internet searches. There are several articles that have been written about putting a 3.6L engine into the pre-89 911. Also Steve Timmons in DE and Patrick Motorsports in AZ provide parts to facilitate the conversion, amongst others.

It's all very doable. I put a '93 964 in my Carrera 3.0 back in '94. here is a pic of the engine inthe '76 chassis.

I have some details at <a href="http://www.pelicanparts.com/MotorCity/wmv/3_6liter.htm" target="_blank">3.6 transplant</a>
I felt the need for more speed so I am currently having a 993 vram built to RS spec transplanted in to replace the 964.

There are quit a few of these things running around. I am sure that some of the other proud owners will chime in w/ their websites.
Dr Timmins site is a good place to start gathering information.
