Yes, taking another fatal step into this addictive sport. After a great DE last weekend, I decided to get some dedicated track wheel and tires, and need some help from more experienced rennlisters. Also help on where to get them used and cheap. Thanks in advance.

CCW Wheels - http://www.ccwheel.com/files/gallery.php?id=porsche#a

They are light, strong, and relatively inexpensive. (Mine were about $1800 for the set new).

For a 911, a set of Fuchs can;t be beat... strong light and good looking. 7/9 x 16 are a good setup for an SC/Carrara. If you can live with some cosmetic issues, they can be had pretty cheap.

Also, Lindsey Racing does custom wheels for Porsches. They also are about $1800 a set, and are similar to the CCWs...

Wow, I've been looking for Fuchs in 7 & 8 sizes for two years now, and everything I've turned up is anything but cheap, in any condition! I think they are made of a special gold alloy! They are very sought after these days.

Seriously, for cheap track wheels, there are a lot of the 7 & 8 x 16 BBS wheels (the 1-piecers, not the 3-pc.) out there for around $500 a set. Most have gold centers (from the factory), though some have been painted black over the years. They are very light and very strong...I highly recommend them.

FWIW, if you are contemplating a long-term relationship with DEs you might have to consider (shudder) 17" or 18" wheels now. Choices in 15" or 16" for 8" & 9" widths are running out. With all the newbee Porkchoppers and their newbee toys (and apparently that's the market that tire suppliers are after), the larger diameters are being quite well-supplied with performance tire choices. Meechelleens or Avons for my 15x9&11 are over US$300 EACH! Tire availability may end up dictating wheel size selection. Good luck.
