Keith,
I think I understand what you are saying. The lip at the back (looking at the picture of the fan). The powder coating was fun because you got to see the results right away. I know i asked this before Keith. Did you just polish your fan strap?

Stripped the powder coat with aircraft stripper(very nasty stuff). It took about an hour and it bubbled the pc. Scraped with a single edge razor blade were possible and then used a power washer and that peeled it right off. Should have take some pictures. It got to the point were it would have been easier to send it off but it got personal, I was going to win! LOL

Yes, my fan strap is just polished. I polished mine while it was still on the car, but it would certainly be a much easier task if it were removed. It was one of those 'one thing leads to another', and at the time, I didn't want to remove the distributor (the motor wasn't at TDC, and I had no easy way to get it there with everything disassembled).
