Default 1966 Front Shock Nut

Hello fellow listers:

How do you tighten up the front shock bolt? It looks like an air rachet will do the job, as it spins when I use a hand rachet.

Thanks in advance, Tom

I am curious about this too. My impact wrench worked fine to remove the nut, but if I use the impact wrench to tighten it down, I am not able to torque to spec. My impact wrench is rated at 450 ft lbs. Anyone else know the best way to do this?

My new shocks have a groove in the threads that a special washer fits over. The washer has a detent in the interior part that fit the groove. Now holding the washer will stop the shaft from twisting. I am pretty sure I remember spots on the washer to grab and hold it . pretty straight forward if I remember correctly.

You know come to think of it I may have used my pulley wrench to hold the washer is it has slots in the outside IIRC.

Good luck.
