Default Need advice removiding side view mirrors

Last night I removed the small allen head bolt in an attempt to remove my side view mirrors to have them repainted. I then removed the inside door panel thinking there would be a disconnect on the wires inside the door. It looks to me that in order to remove the side view mirrors, I would have to remove all the wiring that runs through the door jam and into the front fenders - is this correct or is there an easier way to do this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

What model/year is your car? Judging by your avatar/username, you don't have a 3.2 or SC.

Carefully pry the mirror(glass) out and then remove the three 8mm bolts that hold the backing plate. Now you will have access the the wire connector.

To avoid prying off the glass mirror, can you cut the wires and plugged some connectors there? GOod for future use too.

If you brake the glass, is it replaceable?

Of course! (I happen to have an extra one if you're in California).
