Question Crank shaft rotation

I have a 1969 911e that I'm trying to set the timming on the mechanical fule pump. I just need to find out which way the crank shaft should turn; clockwise, or counter clockwise, when turning it from the pully side of the motor. Thanks.

Turn the crankshaft pully clockwise until you get to TDC - cyl #4. Then go 40 degrees further and you will find a mark on the pulley. That is your timing mark for the MFI pump. MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE JUST PAST #4, NOT #1! When you have the crankshaft in the correct position set up your pump by lining up its marks (belt pulley & housing).

That's totaly different from what the Haynes manual says. The Haynes manual says "Turn the crankshaft pulley bolt until #1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke. Now turn the crankshaft one complete revolution. Continue turning the crankshaft until the FE mark on the crankshaft pulley is opposite the notch on the blower housing.

"One complete revolution" from TDC cyl #1 will put your engine on TDC #4, then go 40 degrees further until you see the FE mark. I guess Haynes doesn't think people can go straight to cyl #4 without going to cyl #1 first - what a silly instruction!
