Any ideas about the shelf life of dry gas?

If you mean gasoline, about 12 months max, from the time of refining, less for aviation gas which does not have the stabilizers that automotive gasoline does. By the time automotive gas gets to your local station, it is probably 6 months old, so 6 months maximum in your tank. If you plan to have gas in an automotive tank longer than 60 days or so, I would put some fuel stabilizer in it.
