Turbo look ?
#16
I just got an email from the Yahoo 84-89 TL discussion board from one member who is putting his Cab up for sale. Her pic and email are below. I don't know her personally, but the car looks well cared for. She did not mention a price, but the mileage is far enough up there that most of the garage queen premium is gone.
Text of email:
Hello All,
It is with deep regret that I have to announce I'm putting my TL up for sale.
Mine is a metallic blue 1987 TL Carrerra Cabriolet. (I believe the Porsche documentation indicated that there were only 16 of this model made in 1987 for the USA.) I have about 85,000 miles on it. It is in fairly good shape. I've attached a picture - it has the whale tail/tea tray. (I happen to love it!) To my knowledge, everything is original - except for the Dino steering wheel.
I live in Marietta, Georgia, north of Atlanta. Please let me know if anyone is interested and I will do my best to provide additional information. $31,900

FYI, factory m491 TL bodies came out in 1984. I would never suggest anyone put bondo on a Porsche. The value goes way down. Always have the proper flares (metal) put on and have them leaded in correctly.

Doc,
Give Retoration Design a call. The prices are inline and it may take awhile to get ahold of Bill (owner) buy it's worth the wait. The slant above has them.

I know they mad factory TL's in 85, cause I had one. I to love the look, but found that a regular Carrera could pull me becasue of wieght and air resistenace. I could out brake them though and had more rubber on the ground. There were a few TL targas, but not many. Most are coupes and cabs.

One sheet I saw put the number of Turbolook coupes at:
1984-421
1985-213
1986-5
1987-10
1988-29
1989-10
I believe that the 1986 number has already been disputed with more documented vehicles.

"She did not mention a price"
"I live in Marietta, Georgia, north of Atlanta. Please let me know if anyone is interested and I will do my best to provide additional information. $31,900"
Looks like she wants 31,900 for it.
