So, Iceman, you are the user that had the hockey stick engine cover prop?
Instead of being confused as a TopGun fan, (starring Katy's husband), the hockey stick would explain username better.

I have revived this as it had a list on it of all the things i did to my car when i first got it. Allmost none of them were absolutely necesary but should give you a good list of things to go over.
In looking for this thread i was starkly reminded that we all used to be noobs once and a lot of the questions being asked to today i asked all those years ago. Some great threads , too bad many of the pics are gone. Since 2005 i have started 205 threads and have over 12,000 posts. I think maybe 4 contained actual usefull information , and none of the 12,000 had no typos

That's a great list and provides an excellent template for some of my off-season adventures. It also explains a lot about your passion for the car. But I have to ask, is this the "kinder gentler" iceman?

LOL. I'm reading the first post thinking. Damn, all this time I thought you were driving that thing. Then I remembered to look at the post date.
I've been here a year longer than you, and I'm only 11,626 posts behind. I need to get crackin'.

Wow couldn't even tell you as it was over several months. But I would have to say under 2 g easy. The most expensive piece was the shocks at about 500 for all 4. The rest was just cheap parts and my labour

Iceman; good to see the old posts and when i first joined the forum a few days ago I laughed when i seen the hockey stick and find it even funnier that this is now fixed and you still use the picture. I use a snow and ice scraper brush instead. The PO (thanks for teaching me that acronym) of my car said he replaced the pneumatic cylinder for the rear lid but it still does not hold unless the car is warm... He suggested buying the type that is meant for the whale tail and installing that. Is that what you did?

you have a couple of options. if you have the hardware you can put one on the other side .. you need the bracket welded up on the inside of the body like the drivers side.
You can double up , on the drivers side and there is a kit for this. Not ideal, as there is a lot of stress on one side of the decklid, but it will work if you have a steel decklid as opposed to fiberglass. I have heard there is a new lifetime strut available now but i dont have one.
My single one stays up in the summer, and in the winter i dont worry about it too much but it falls .
I had to keep the avatar as there was sort of a rebellion when i changed it .. so they made me put it back
i keep it up now while the car is on the road .. and when i park it for the winter i change it , so guys sort of know when my car is on the road ..
