Default 1979 911SC ignition coil

Does anyone know a test to see if the ignition coil and cd box are working on the 911SC?
I need a test of the coil and one of the cd box to figure out which is the failed part.
Second question is does anyone know if Nology coils will work with the OEM CD box and not damage it or burn up?
Bosch coils are extinct and I don't want to pay major $$ to convert to a new system.
Any ideas?

If you can hear a whine coming from the CD box it's working, I have the info about the coil testing at the shop Give me a call tomorrow. I'll help you out. P.S. My shop is about 1 1/5 hours from Detriot

Not true! You can use an old VW coil. The Bosch blue coil will also work properly.
Check here ( www.systemsc.com/technical.htm ) for more info.
The key critical CD coil parameter is the turns ratio which should be about 100.
Many think a special coil is needed which is not the case.
