valve adjustment intervals
I am lucky enough to recently own a 1985 Carrera Coupe 3.2 which has 62 K miles on it. I can document that the valves were adjusted at roughly 30 K but am pretty sure they have not been adjusted since. Both my PPI technican and my regular technician have not indicated that the valves needed adjustment (sound?). What's the rule of thumb both in noise or adherenance to regular adjustment intervals. There may be an existing thread on this topic so pls refer if appropriate. I very much appreciate your collective opinion. Thx!

I am not sure what the "official" Porsche recommended valve adjustment interval is, but many owners (including myself) adjust their valves once a year.
You can not rely on "valve noise" alone to tell when you need to adjust. Your valves will make noise when they are to loose, but tight valves are normally silent. Ironically, tight valves are more harmful than loose valves.
I would suggest you do a valve adjustment soon on your car, since it appears 30k+ miles have elapsed since the last known adjustment.
A valve adjustment is very doable for the home mechanic. Pelican's website has an excellent article (w/pictures) on how to adjust your valves.
