Does anyone have current list of Porsche Factory Approved oils for 911?

I am trying to determine if Agip 5-40 full synthetic is on that list. Thanks in advance!

Hi Drew:
I'd look on the German Porsche website for that oil since its not generally sold here,....![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'd also mention that its pretty thin stuff for the air-cooled cars, especially in the summer; the 996-997 cars will do OK on that oil.

That's what I'm concerned about. My mechanic already filled 'er up with the 5W-40, though. Think I'll be OK for a while in the Spring? I do have a couple of track days coming up.

Personally, I wouldn't put such thin oil in any air-cooled car unless its wintertime in the upper Midwest or New England.

For track use, I'd suggest a 15w-40 or 15w-50.

Frankly, since that list isn't focused on air-oil cooled 911 motors w/ over 100K miles, I don't consider it applicable. Personally, I'd take Steve's advice.

Actually, though a little confusing, the list says "sports cars" and years 1984-present, which covers some 13 years of air-cooled motors. Mine has 70,005 on the clock currently ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Nevertheless, I do implicitly trust Steve's opinion. It will be back to 15W-50 pretty soon.

yeah, I read it - & wasn't impressed. note: no mention of the aircooled cars per se, as they name the water cooled models. my take: that list is aimed to support & justify dealers stocking only a few weights of oil, that spec'd for the water-cooled generation. don't overlook that all our old oil-air cooled engines are now out-of-warranty...
