Default Speaker Info for 911SC (1983)

Hey guys,

I have been searching and searching the archives...no straight answers, so here are my questions:

1. Does anyone know the max mounting depth in the rear deck (keeping the hard rubber pad in)?

2. Does anyone know the max mounting depth in the front door panel? (I currently have a 5 1/4 in there, looking to put in a 6 1/2- 6 3/4, Crutchfield says no problem.

3. Any great ideas for subs, other than the ones that go behind the front seats on the floor (I need that space and cannot give it up because I'm 6'4"!)

Thanks,

Drew

Drew,

I can't help on the door speaker or rear deck mounting depths, though Crutchfield is usually right on in many measurements.

However, for subs, I've seen tube type subs in the front trunk, though I don't know how effective they are for bass response in the passenger compartment.

More effective would be a sub cabinet laid across the back seat area with the rear seats folded down. I've seen some very nice cabinets integrated into the car when the correct carpet/fabric/vinyl is used to match the rest of the interior. Plus, there is plenty of room for larger cabinets and drivers (speakers) when using the area above the rear seats verses the rear seat foot wells.

Good Luck,

Jay
