Does anyone know offhand,
which fuse supplies the small pump,
fixed in front beside battery.
or any ideas, why the positive connection feeding it, might not be responding with the wiper stalk.

Could this be the headlight washer pump you are reffering to? In order for this one to work, your headlamps must be turned on and then the button must be depressed.
Mine doesn't work. Neither does the windshield washer pump for that matter!

Dan, the headlight washer pump is mounted on the washer fluid reservoir in the left front wheel well. The pump by the battery is for the windshield washers.
According to the Bentley manual, the windshield washer pump is on a circuit protected by fuse #7 in fuse box #1 (the 10th fuse from the rear of the main fuse panel in the boot.)
Warning: The Bentley manual is chock full of errors. Also, this is for the 3.2 Carreras. Other model years may differ.

I thought it was the other way around. The real big cylindical pump is the headlight washer pump and the small cube one was the windshiels washer .. but I must point out I have a 78 so may be different. Neither of mine worked when I bought the car, needed to replace a relay in front and repair seized windshiels washer motor.
