Default Engine Temp and Oil

I just switched my oil to Valvoline 20w50 Vr1 racing oil. I notice that the car warms up a lot quicker and maintains a warmer constatnt temperature. The temperature is pretty constant right under the first mark on the temperature gauge. Any thoughts about it. I was told that the ticker oil is better for our cars?????

I have a 86 coupe if that helps???

20w50 will not provide lower wear rates and may contribute to higher oil temps. If you want synthetic use Mobil 1 0w40...for conventional oil use Rotella T 15w40 or Chevron Dlo 15w40. Rotella was factory fill in your car BTW.

That is good to know. I normally used Rotella in my mom's diesel truck.

These cars like a 40wt...M1 15w50 or Castrol Syntec 5w50 are excellent choices as well...that's been my experience so far! there is another thread going on about this very subject..it is a few posts down i believe..."heavy weight oil" or something like that...
