Default Body Resto Advice

This forum is great for the technical stuff but has anyone got pics of their body restoration work. I am facing the scurge of euro cars, the B-posts, Sills, Inners and rear wings.

Im planning on doing the work myself (until it gets really tricky).

Has anyone got any insight into stripping the metal work back including the structural.? Ive seen numerous bodyshops do this, the work ranges from being done on a Porsche Cellete Jig to being done on a stack of tyres.

At the moment Im contempating axle stands under the four body points with wooden longitudinal beams supporting along the floor pan along with the suspension points jacked into compression and the engine weight possibly supported. (unsure about the last one). To tackle the sills, bposts and kidney bowls. it might be overkill but I think the inner sills might need repair sectioning (hence the support before I start).

Euromillions win pending has anyone got any thoughts (other than get a shop to do it)

Ouch!

Sounds like you've got a bit of a rot box with that amount of work required - rear wings are a cut-out job - is this car really worth it? I see a problem with 'doing it until it gets tricky' - it's tricky from the beginning with this amount of work. Have you talked to a body specialist about this and what may be required? You are within a few miles of one of the best 911 restorers at Preston - Graham Green Cars - just talk to the guy before going further. Unfortunately what you see on the surface is only half the problems that may be lurking once the strip begins.

Good luck if you are going it alone.

Its a rot box, but only in the expected places.
for a UK car its suprisingly solid.

Ive had it mostly stripped so I know what is lurking.
I did the front arches and they turned out the be solid (when really they shouldnt).

The sills are buggered, the bposts expects, the inner sills probably need a patch.
the rear qtrs are ok bar the bottom edges where the b/sill/kidney is, theyve just rusted out.

Ive got plenty of time and not much money.see my site for the pics
