Default High Milage 87 911 Value

I am looking for an 86-87 911 for a daily driver. I am getting tired of my 94 Miata.

In Santa Clara CA at the Wheels & Deals lot (sell it yourself lot) there is a 87 911 with 154,000 miles selling for $15K OBO. The car looks to be in good condition. I have not yet took it for a test drive. I would like to know what a reasonable price is for a high-mileage 911 assuming that the owner has keep up with the maintaince?

I, of-coarse, will not consider the car if the maintaince has been neglected.

with proper servicing, 154K is nothing if the valve guides have been replaced, just get a PPI from a competent porsche shop.

Condition is everything on these cars. I've seen relatively low mileage cars that are trashed and high mileage cars that look like they have just rolled off the factory floor.

$15k might be fine if the car is very solid cosmetically and mechanically. Model year 1987 is a very good year and a desireable year too due to the G-50 trans.

There is another guy selling a car near you--- 10.8k for a 50k mileage 84 Carrera---this is a killer price for a 1984 Carrera.
The problem in this case is that it is a theft recovery and he got evasive on the phonewhen I asked him the miles. He said the speedo shows 50,000k and "the law dictateswhat I can and can't say about it" but it probably has 60,000 - 80,000k. In any case the car is supposed to be nice and usually you don't find 1984's for less than 12k or so... check it out...check your PM (private messages) on this board for his contact info..

I have another lead foryou --Bay Area- 83 SC with < 100k for around 17k..
much pricier but very nice condition...PMing you those details also...

Let me know what you see on the bottom end (< 10k range) thats more my own range ...

I paid $16.5K for my '87 with 150,000 miles on it. Very, very clean though.

That $$$ actually seems fair! Just get a PPI done by a place you trust. Best wishes - Jay
