Post How to install a Smart Racing steering wheel extension

In a recent post, I asked how to move a MOMO steering wheel a bit closer to the driver. I'm 6'4" and have finally gotten my Sparco Evo seat low enough and far back enough to be comfortable with a helmet on, but I found that the steering wheel was too far away; hence my desire to install a steering wheel extension. See the following thread.

I bought a Smart Racing extension, which moves the wheel a bit over an inch closer, and it has nicely solved the problem. The car now fits very well. It's a little strange with the control stalks further away, but you get used to it. If you would like to see how the installation went, including photos, go to:

Where there is a Will there is a way. Great photojournalism. I have been thinking of this myself. I think you have convinced me.

Did you work out the shifter angle?

Will, nice writeup. I ditched the Momo horn button and added a Porsche crest. Looks great. Quick snap below. Last I heard you could still get these "out of print" horn buttons from Parts Heaven, German Parts and Restoration, or Bob Ziolkowski (search for his name on this forum).

After I got the seat right and moved the steering wheel, pbs911, I didn't feel like I needed to move the shifter towards me. It would be nice, but isn't necessary. It's something to try one day.

Bill, thanks for the tip on the horn button. I'll try to find one!
